Vin Bio Alsace

The vineyard

S

ituated in a typical village of Alsace called Itterswiller, the winery is midway between Strasbourg and Colmar, at the heart of the famous Alsace Wine Route, a mythical itinerary of picturesques villages and outstanding landscapes.

The 8.5 ha vineyard is composed of near 40 plots in a radius of 5 kms on Epfig and Itterswiller villages. Fully certified Organic culture by Ecocert since 2008 and biodynamic culture by Demeter in 2010. We use the cosmic rhythms to schedule various farm activities.

The exposition is mainly south/ south-east and the climate is semi-continental with hot summers and cold & dry winters . The vineyard is nestled at the bottom of the Vosges mountains who protect it from west winds and rain clouds that’s why the Alsacian vineyard is one of the dryest of France.

Soils nature : pink sandstone from the Vosges mountains, granit sand, sometimes mixed with silt (loes) sometimes with clay (lehm). Those kind of soils contribute to build fine, fresh and mineral wines.
The vines are between 35 and 65 years old – All our wines are made out of old vines ! We have plots on two remarkable terroirs called « Lieu-dit » : The Lieu-dit Fruehmess & Lieu-dit Fronholz

All our wines are Vin Bio Alsace
